Name: Dario the Daruma Doll

Superpower: Goal Guardian
Born On: January 1st, 2024

Meet Dario, your collectible crochet sidekick on a mission! As your trusty Goal Guardian, he's all about keeping your eyes on the prize. Start your story with Dario by adding his first eye—use a marker or embroider it—as you set your goal/make your wish. His one-eyed gaze will be your daily nudge to keep going.

Place Dario where he can cheer you on from the sidelines. He's not just a cute face; he's an adorable beacon of your commitment. When you've achieved your goal or wish, celebrate your success by giving Dario his second eye—marking the completion of your shared quest.

With Dario's second eye complete, it's not just a goal achieved, it's a memory made. What will you tackle next?

To keep Dario vibrant and vigilant, remember to:

  • Share Goals & Wishes: He loves hearing about your aspirations.
  • Give Determination: He thrives on your unwavering resolve.
  • Place in Visible Spots: He needs to oversee your progress.
  • Show Persistence: He's crocheted to cheer on your enduring spirit

This listing is for a physical greeting card that will be shipped to you AND a digital copy of the crochet pattern for this card, which you'll get instant access to. Step-by-step video tutorial is included.

Dario the Goal Guardian is a Daruma doll. Daruma dolls originate from Japan. They serve as talismans of good fortune and determination, commonly used to set and fulfill personal goals and wishes. To use a Daruma doll, one eye is filled in while setting a goal. Place the one-eyed Daruma doll in a spot where it can "watch over you," serving as a persistent reminder to stay focused on achieving your goal. Once the goal is met, fill in the second eye to honor your accomplishment.

I love it being a print paper that I can carry with me to read. I haven’t finished the puzzles yet. It has inspired me to get back to thinking about our winter garden. It’s still really hot here in Texas but this has gotten me planning for Fall.

I love the depth of the articles. I share the newspapers with my 90 year old Mother and she loves it too. I appreciate that it's something I can read that's not on a screen. I can tell already I'll be saving them to refer to throughout the gardening season.

Gardening Nation • Issue 1

It was a wonderful birthday present for my wife! She loved it!

Knit Nation • Issue 4

I’m learning so much. And I really appreciate that. It’s a paper newsletter and not electronic. I’m an older gardener and I like reading and highlighting what I want to remember.

Gardening Nation • Issue 1

I have only received one issue but I am really looking forward to the second issue which is on the way. I haven't made any of the patterns yet, but I know that I will. It's a great paper. I like the games as well as the patterns. Glad I subscribed.

I love the magazine. I’m also love the crochet nation and the knitting nation. I think they are all three fantastic. I have every copy of the crochet and knitting nation, and I would like to have a complete copy from number one through the current month for the history nation if it’s possible, let me know and I will pay you for them. I think they are fantastic. Keep up the great work.

History Nation • Issue 1

I like history so I am enjoying the history paper immensely. I like the information for the different years from the very, very early years to more modern history. I liked reading about the Roman Empire and could see similarities between then and what is happening in the country now. History does repeat itself and this country should learn from that history.

I'm one who loves physical versions of my crochet patterns and never really know what to do next. When I got my first crochet nation newspaper in the mail I really fell in love. Not only are there puzzles for me to do inbetween my crochet breaks but the different articles really catch my attention. I don't know many other people who crochet so the tips/advice that are in the different articles really help me out too. I'm looking forward to my next one and can't wait to see what it all includes. I'm definitely going to have a newspaper collection because I can't see myself ever getting rid of these.

It’s really nice to have a knit newspaper, and more than just patterns but stories, knitting history and fun facts, added extras that magazines don’t always cover and some I’ve not seen at all in knit magazines. I enjoy the grandma stories. They also have kint crosswords for those who enjoy. Good patterns from known designers. I recommend to at least get one to see what it’s like, you may get hooked.

This newspaper is so informative, thoughtfully put together, and fun to read!

Gardening Nation • Issue 4

I like the patterns in the newsletter, but I wish there were more patterns for household things like dishcloths, decorative towels, and toys for children. I do like the comic and mystery story a lot.

Crochet Nation • Issue 18

This issue had gotten lost in the mail and when I reached out about it, I was promptly sent another one. I really enjoy this publication and learn something new with each issue.

Knit Nation • Issue 15

It's a great resource and many of the articles serve as solid reminders of what it's time to do. I'm a moderately experienced gardener, not a novice but by no means an expert, and found most of the info gauged pretty appropriately for me. It's a beautiful publication, with color throughout. Good writing and terrific editing. I worked in newspapers for 25 years and have some idea of the work and talent behind the publication, and I'm impressed and delighted!

I really enjoy receiving the “Crochet Nation” newspaper. I enjoy the articles, horoscopes and games. But mostly, I enjoy the many patterns included in the paper. The instructions are great and describe how to work each stich required in the pattern. I look forward to receiving my paper every month! Glenda Fritz, La Plata, MD
